Rules for access to information
The Act of 29 June 1995 on Public Statistics (Journal of Laws of 2026, item 851) guarantees everyone equal, uniform and simultaneous access to statistical data.
Individual and personal data collected and compiled in public statistics surveys are confidential and subject to special protection. Such data may be used solely for statistical compilations, summaries and analyses, as well as for the preparation by the public statistics services of a sampling frame for statistical surveys.
The disclosure or use of individual data and personal data for purposes other than those specified is prohibited (statistical confidentiality).
Scope and form of information disclosure
The scope and form of statistical information provided are determined by the Programme of Statistical Surveys, approved annually by the Council of Ministers.
Statistical information is provided in the following forms:
- publications (information, reports),
- press releases and information published in the media,
- information provided directly, by telephone or by correspondence,
- custom‑ordered compilations on request,
- information posted on the Internet.
Any statistical data aggregations other than those listed in the Programme may be compiled (subject to statistical confidentiality) on a special order from the user for a fee.
Orders for non‑published data can be placed in the following ways:

When placing an order, please provide the following information:
- thematic, temporal and territorial scope of the requested data,
- preferred format for data provision (electronic, paper printout),
- Tax Identification Number (NIP),
- surname and first name, address, telephone number and, if available, e‑mail address of the contact person for the order,
- preferred method of payment.

A public statistics interviewer is an employee of a statistical office in the given voivodship. Each field interviewer holds an official ID card with a photograph and an authorisation to conduct a specific survey, specifying its subject matter, territorial scope, and the period of the survey.

The rules for entering, updating or deleting entries in the REGON register are set out in the provisions of the Act on Public Statistics (Journal of Laws of 2026, item 851) and in the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 30 November 2015 on the procedure and methodology for maintaining and updating the national official register of national economy entities, and on the templates of applications, questionnaires and certificates (Journal of Laws 2015, item 2009, as amended).
Issuing certificates
Pursuant to Art. 43, para. 3 of the Act on Public Statistics, statistical offices issue certificates of the assigned REGON identification number upon request from an entity entered in the REGON register.

Applications for a certificate may be submitted in person at the Office, by post, by email or via ePUAP.
